JHONNY´s SONG
MICRO STORIES
Nicolás J. Marinelli

The Old Man pulled a .50 caliber Colt from the depths of his long beard and, without hesitation, shot the red-haired Goodman right in the forehead, who collapsed lifeless onto the table. Then the Old Man shouted:
—Anyone who makes a single sound, I'll blow their head off.
Everyone went silent, except for Johnny, the pianist, who kept playing his song as if nothing had happened.
Furious and at the same time intrigued, the Old Man approached him and demanded:
—And why don’t you shut up? Do you want me to blow your wig off?
Johnny turned around, showing a wide smile, full of brilliant white teeth, and kept on doing his thing. The Old Man placed the gun on his forehead, but Johnny kept playing. Boiling with rage, the Old Man cocked the gun one, two, three times… but the bullets refused to fire, and Johnny just kept at his piano.
Outraged, the Old Man pointed the Colt’s barrel at his own eye and took a look. It was the last thing he saw in his life. The bullet pierced his head from side to side, and the Old Man collapsed to the floor.
Johnny kept playing, calmly, lamenting for the Old Man, who never understood that good music never dies.
